The latest diving record belongs to Egyptian named Walaa Hafez. Thirty six years old man spent in the water 51 hours and 20 minutes. He beat for 16 minutes the previous record belonging to American Allen Sherrod.

The man was diving in the Red Sea in the famous tourist resort of Hurghada. He stayed at a depth of 10 metres. It was because of logistic reasons – the deeper immersion would require a more complicated decompression plan. A scuba diver received liquid food and benefited from an electrically heated dry suit to keep the body warm. With his record he wanted to draw attention to the problem of destructive processes in water reservoirs.
